European Space Deep-Tech Innovation Centre

ESDI Deep-Tech × Space
Summit 2026

On 13 May 2026, the European Space Agency ESA and the Paul Scherrer Institute PSI invite you to attend the Deep-Tech × Space Summit, to be held at the European Space Deep-Tech Innovation Centre (ESDI) at Park Innovaare, near Zurich.

This half-day summit brings together CTOs and technology leaders from Europe’s deep tech and space sectors to discuss challenges, opportunities, and the commercialisation of deep tech.

The event aims to encourage new collaborations between deep tech and space actors, shaping technology strategy and commercialisation in areas such as quantum technologies, AI, robotics, and advanced materials.

Summit Objectives

  • Explore how frontier technologies can help address current and future space challenges while enabling commercial success.
  • Identify and tackle manufacturing bottlenecks that prevent deep tech breakthroughs from reaching industrial scale, particularly where organisational design and production readiness lag behind scientific maturity.
  • Support partnerships between the European deep tech and space sectors, focusing on accelerating the path to commercialisation.
  • Strengthen the connection between Swiss deep tech innovation and the wider European sector through the joint efforts of ESA and PSI at ESDI.

Please note that this event will be photographed for social media use.

Deep Tech × Space: From Breakthroughs to Real Systems

Breakthrough research alone does not create impact; the challenge is turning early‑stage ideas into technologies that space missions and companies can actually use. This panel explores how deep‑tech advances. It will highlight why the intersection of deep tech and space offers concrete commercial opportunities, and what is required for innovators to move from promising concepts to deployable, market‑ready space technologies.

Deep‑Tech × Space: Technology Foresight and Supply Chain Intelligence

Europe’s deep‑tech ambitions rely on the critical technologies, skills, and manufacturing capabilities that make innovation possible. This panel examines where those “innovation supply chains” are strong, where they are fragile, and which gaps limit Europe’s ability to turn research into deployable systems for space. By looking at actual bottlenecks, from enabling components and lab‑to‑industry transitions to investment and production capacity.
